About the Presenter: Brooke Filsinger
Brooke Filsinger spent nearly two decades in provincial health research before returning to academia as a PhD student. Her research focuses on the inclusion of Indigenous pedagogies and methodologies in STEM. She also serves as the Advisor to the Dean, Indigenous Education, in the Faculty of Science at Toronto Metropolitan University. Brooke is committed to a student-centered, student-led approach, fostering community-building, and creating more welcoming and inclusive spaces for Indigenous students in science.
About the Presenter: Alacea Yerxa
Alacea Yerxa is an undergraduate student studying Biomedical Sciences at Toronto Metropolitan University. She also serves as the Indigenous Outreach Specialist within the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Sciences, where she develops innovative programs that integrate Indigenous Knowledge with Western STEM principles. Driven by a deep commitment to enhancing Indigenous representation in STEM, Alacea is dedicated to creating meaningful change for her community.
