Ontario Science Centre’s Interactive Experiences Coming to CF Sherway Gardens and Harbourfront Centre this Fall

October 17, 2024

The Ontario Science Centre is thrilled to announce two temporary satellite locations, featuring new and engaging science experiences for everyone. The Ontario Science Centre will also continue to bring science into communities, delivering engaging pop-up experiences at festivals and student-focused events in the province.

“We are excited to share our passion for science and provide incredible STEM learning experiences in engaging and innovative ways for the people of Ontario,” said Paul Kortenaar, CEO, Ontario Science Centre. “We are so proud to work with CF Sherway Gardens and Harbourfront Centre to offer science-packed, family-friendly experiences to audiences starting this fall.”

Beginning this November, CF Sherway Gardens will welcome two special interactive exhibitions. The inspiring exhibition Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks runs from November 6, 2024 until January 19, 2025 and will feature 20 LEGO skyscrapers from around the world. Constructed in awe-inspiring architectural detail, the exhibition includes the CN Tower, the Empire State Building, Shanghai Tower and more. Visitors of all ages can create and build their own “tower of tomorrow” using the thousands of LEGO bricks available in the hands-on construction areas. Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks is a traveling exhibition produced by the Museums of History NSW and toured internationally by Flying Fish.

Visitors at CF Sherway Gardens can also learn about science under the big top with Circus!, an interactive experience that explores how math, physics and anatomy make circus feats possible. Open from November 6, 2024 until March 16, 2025, thrill-seekers can safely walk the tightrope, discover the secrets of the sword swallower, spin plates and more. Circus! was developed, designed and built by the Ontario Science Centre and has been featured at more than 20 science centres, museums and institutions across Canada, the United States, Mexico and Asia.

“At Cadillac Fairview, we’re dedicated to building engaging and memorable experiences and it’s a privilege to partner with Ontario Science Centre to bring these extraordinary exhibits to West Toronto at CF Sherway Gardens,” said Rory MacLeod, Executive Vice President, Operations, Cadillac Fairview.

At Harbourfront Centre, visitors can enjoy elements of the Ontario Science Centre’s popular KidSpark, a dynamic learn-through-play experience for children ages 10 and under. Open from December 4, 2024 until May 4, 2025, the space will feature KidSpark favourites plus a few new surprises! Highlights include shopping for groceries at the pretend supermarket, counting blocks to build a house, reviewing x-rays at the pretend doctor’s office and so much more.

“We are delighted to welcome the Ontario Science Centre’s unique experiences to the Harbourfront Centre,” said Cathy Loblaw, CEO, Harbourfront Centre. “Families will now have the wonderful opportunity to explore both arts and science together on our wonderful waterfront campus.”

“The Ontario Science Centre has been inspiring young minds across the province for decades. With exhibits at CF Sherway Gardens and Harbourfront Centre set to open soon, we are ensuring that more children remain engaged and excited to learn about science,” said Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure. “I hope everyone has the opportunity to visit these Ontario Science Centre satellite locations and that they continue to foster the next generation of leaders in science-based technology.”
