I’m Dr. Paul Kortenaar, the CEO of the Ontario Science Centre.
The Science Centre is a familiar place for me—I started as a teacher in the Science School in 1995, and was Director of Education from 2008 to 2012. I spent the last seven years as the CEO of SciWorks in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and most recently as the Founding Director of the El Paso Children’s Museum in Texas.
I think that the Ontario Science Centre and science centres generally have a responsibility to improve our communities, help make the world more resilient and support young people in developing the skills needed to shape our future.
Your trust in the Ontario Science Centre is not something we take for granted. Every day, our team is working on new ways to be a trusted source of information, education and inspiration, and ensure we have fun along the way.
Part of our work is to bring the Science Centre experience to you. We are doing this in many ways, including through our social channels and on our website, which has fun and educational Science at Home resources.
We are here to support our community, our province and visitors from around the world.
We look forward to seeing you!
Paul Kortenaar, PhD
