What Sleepovers are offered?

NEW Sleepover Theme for 2011

BOLTS, JOLTS and VOLTS

Everything Engineering

Spark your enthusiasm for engineering as you explore our exhibits and take part in exciting hands-on, badge-related activities. Connect with electricity and get your lemon juices flowing in “Circuit Training”; build on your knowledge of structures at “Tower Power”; hold on tight as you take flight in the “Delta Dart Dash”; get geared up for simple machines at the “Fun Factory”; and get a hair-raising experience and see “Watts Up” at the Electricity Demonstration. Top off your Everything Engineering evening by dancing the electric slide at the DJ/PJ party!

Your Sleepover includes: admission and free parking to the Science Centre for the evening of your event and the following day; an IMAX® film; age-specific, hands-on science activities; a science show; the exploration of hundreds of interactive experiences; a late-night DJ/PJ party; an evening snack and morning breakfast to keep everyone fueled for fun; souvenir Sleepover crest; AND sleeping over at the Ontario Science Centre!

The souvenir Sleepover crest, given to each participant on Sunday at breakfast time at the end of the Sleepover, entitles the bearer to free admission to the Science Centre for that day.

All Sleepovers include an evening snack and breakfast, an IMAX film and admission to the Science Centre the following day.

Sleeping Areas

Sleeping areas throughout the Ontario Science Centre are assigned by the Sleepover program staff and cannot be selected. Washrooms are readily accessible for changing. Please note that we do not have shower facilities and, in true sleepover fashion, all participants will bunk down on the floor to sleep.

Please note: Most sleeping areas are not carpeted and exhibits are not completely dark due to emergency lighting.

Supervision and Security

  1. Group Leaders/Organizers are responsible for supervision of their participants.
  2. The minimum supervision ratio is one adult, leader or supervisor to eight children.
  3. The Ontario Science Centre has special emergency procedures and protocols for overnight events. All Sleepover participants are trained in fire-drill procedures at the beginning of the night.
  4. Security staff and Sleepover program staff remain in the building throughout the night.

Attention Girl Guide Leaders: Download a pre-filled Girl Guides of Canada Emergency Response Plan (SG.4) and the Emergency Response Guidelines Appendix D. You'll need the free Acrobat Reader to view or print the document. We've taken care of the sections relating to the Ontario Science Centre for you!
